Hi I’m Steve, who you will probably hear on the end of the phone when you call us or have already called us in the past.  Who am I? – I have been managing Podium Sport for the last 8 years and in 2006 I bought the business from the previous owners and moved it to Holmfirth where I live with my partner Rachael. 

I have a BA Hons in Sport Studies from Sheffield City Polytechnic from many years ago.  I am an Age Group Triathlete and have competed for Great Britain on a couple of occasions at the Worlds and Europeans.  This year I move into the 45 - 49 age group and am hoping to represent GB again as I’ll be among the youngest in that category!!  I race for Science in Sport, where I used to work, but I run for Holmfirth Harriers and cycle for Holme Valley Wheelers.  I run for Holmfirth Harriers which my girlfriend got me into and am a second claim cyclist for Holme Valley Wheelers.

The business is now based in Holmfirth in the heart of the Pennines where Last of the Summer Wine is filmed. It is a fantastic part of the country and certainly better hill training than around Liverpool where I originate from.  When we leave our house (where the business takes up the front room) I see Holme Moss the highest road in England and think I must cycle up there again!

Hi I am Rachael, Steve’s partner (business and pleasure!).  I am a Yorkshire Lass and proud of it!  I love training on the hills especially on my bike.  I have also represented Great Britain in triathlon at the Worlds and Europeans and am hoping 2007 will be a good year for me.

I love cycling and am a member of Holme Valley Wheelers.  I train and run for Holmfirth Harriers who are the best club in the world and certainly the friendliest.  I coach the Junior Triathletes at the Harriers as I am a Level 2 British Triathlon coach.  I am also a swimming teacher and do adult and children’s triathlon coaching at our local pool.

I have four children but still manage to be a mad keen triathlete (aren’t we all?) and two of my daughters are also keen and compete in the Yorkshire & Humberside Series.  I enjoy working with Steve part of the week in the business and together we hope to expand it and deliver you the service and products that you want at prices you like.
